Year 1

Welcome to Year 1!

Welcome back to school everyone. It's so lovely to see you all back safe and sound. Your teacher in Year 1 is Mrs Woolley and your teaching assistants are Mrs Kenny and Mrs Reynolds. We are all here to help you to learn and to have fun at school so come and speak to us if you need any help with anything.

Don't forget to look at our class page regularly and enjoy showing your friends and family what we have been up to.

Have you seen the Pupil Zone? Play games and learn more about our topics.

Spring Term
Our topic this term is 'Home Sweet Home'. We started our study on our local area by having a walk around Whitnash.
We asked our friends about the type of house they live in.
We have been enjoying the story Stick Man by Julia Donaldson.
We then made our own Stick Men.
We sorted ourselves into height order, tallest to shortest.
We did an investigation to see if tall people had the biggest feet.
We found out that it was true!
We had a fantastic trip to Foundry Wood.
We made our Stick Men and Women a home.
We have been sharing books with Year 5. The big children chose books that they enjoyed when they were Yr1s.
Some firefighters came to our school to talk about fire safety.

The boots and helmet were very heavy. The trousers are called leggings and the jacket is called a tunic. These clothes help to keep the firefighters safe.

Unfortunately the firefighters were called out on a job so they are going to come back and see us after Christmas. smiley

We have been retelling the parable of The Good Samaritan. We have written story-boards, made puppets and acted out the story.
