These are the staff in the Reception classroom throughout the week.
This week Reception have looked at five different faiths, one per day.
Monday - Hinduism....Tuesday - Judaism....
Wednesday - Sikhism....Thursday - Islam....Friday - Buddhism
The children were introduced to the story of Rama and Sita. Mrs Kearns then played a game using positional language to describe where the monkey was.
Today the children were introduced to Judaism and found out a bit about the festival of Hanukkah. With Mrs Kearns help, the children prepared ingredients to make Potato Latkes. The children enjoyed tasting something new.
Today the children learned about the festival of Diwali. They also watched videos of Rangoli patterns being made from coloured sand and mehndi patterns using henna. The children used their fine motor skills to trace over patterns to make their own mehndi.
Today the children found out a little about Islam. They looked at the symbol of the crescent moon and star and created their own using paper plates, paint and glitter.
Sprinkling on glitter!!
Today the children looked at what it is like to be a Buddhist and how they pray. As a class we created a kindness tree by cutting out a heart each and making a class kindness tree together.
