We are dedicated to ensuring that all children at our school have plenty of opportunities to participate in a range of sporting events and activities. This commitment is demonstrated by the GOLD School Games Mark that we have been awarded (July 2017, July 2018 and July 2019).
We offer a variety of sport at St Joseph's. In PE lessons pupils take part in athletics, gymnastics, dance, competitive games and swimming lessons (which take place at St Nicolas Park in Warwick). In addition to the weekly PE lessons that pupils participate in, each class take part in regular Marathon Kids sessions that develop resilience and a sense of achievement over the year.
We also encourage pupils to get moving during their play times and provide 'Huffy Puffy' equipment each play time for pupils to use and enjoy. We are very lucky to also have two adventurous play equipment constructions on our site, which the pupils are always eager to use!
Additionally, Year 6 pupils are Playleaders at lunch times. They plan, set up and lead purposeful play for children of all ages. Our Playleaders are very popular with the other pupils who love joining in with different games each lunchtime. Our Year 6's have a great time leading play and we always have lots of volunteers.
We also offer a number of after school sports clubs. We run football, netball and athletics clubs, in partnership with local sports club Top Corner Coaching. The pupils love taking part in matches and tournaments representing the school and we love hearing their sports reports in our whole school assemblies, celebrating their success together.
