Year 1
Welcome to Year 1!
Welcome to Year 1. This year you will have two teachers - Mrs Twycross (Monday-Wednesday) and Mrs Kay (Thursday & Friday). You are also lucky enough to have Mrs O'Reilly as your fabulous Teaching Assistant every day and Mrs Adkins, Mrs Orpahnides, Mrs Britton and Miss Davis in class too.
You will have the amazing JJ to guide you throughout the year. One pupil each week will be lucky enough to take him home and look after him for the weekend. Your teachers will be looking for someone who works hard and shows good manners throughout the week and that person will take JJ home.

During the Autumn Term... We are superheroes!
Our first topic will be SUPERHEROES! We will finding out about lots of different superheroes and thinking about superhero powers. We will hopefully discover that superheroes come in all different shapes and sizes and that we all have special powers and talents. We will be reading lots of interesting books like Superworm by Julia Donaldson and Supertato by Sue Hendra to get us started.

Go Noodle!
We love having a dance in Year One! Go Noodle helps us with coordination, following sequences and patterns, and wakes up our brains when we are feeling a little bit tired. Plus it's really good fun!

Prayer in Year One
We pray in lots of different ways in Year One. During November, we had a visit from Trainee Priest Sean Gough and we went to the Prayer Garden to say the prayers that we had written in class. We also sang one of our favourite songs 'Our God is a Great Big God!'
