Jubilee Year
Jubilee Year of Hope 2025
Jubilee Year of Hope
The Holy Father has decided that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee, something which happens every 25 years.
The theme is “Pilgrims of Hope”, and is a year of hope for a world suffering the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and a climate crisis.
As a school, Saint Joseph will become pilgrims of Hope throughout 2025.
To mark the start of a very special year of prayer, we enjoyed a whole school day of celebration.
We went on a pilgrimage to St Joseph’s Catholic Church. On the way, we learnt about other important pilgrimages throughout the world.
When we arrived at church we laid lilies at the feet of the Virgin Mary statue and prayed.
Luce came too!
We created our own version of the Jubilee Year of Hope Logo.
As the colours of the logo match our house colours, each house made a person. We used different collage methods to complete it.
The anchor and cross have been signed by the staff in the school, who protect and care for all the people who enter.
We learnt to speak and sign the
Act of Hope.
O My God,
relying on Thy infinite goodness and promises,
I hope to obtain pardon of my sins,
the help of Thy grace and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.
Amen
We created our own version of the Jubilee Year of Hope Icon
We discussed the symbolism of the icon and decided to add ourselves into the image.
The icon helps to remind us that we are all equal and important to Jesus.
As a school, we will always listen to and follow his teachings.
We spent time to be mindful, restful and calm.
We used a Prayer Labyrinth to help us breathe peacefully, whilst we prayed and meditated.
We listened to hymns whilst we spent time on our own reflections.
We learnt the official
Pilgrims of Hope Hymn
for the Jubilee Year of Hope.
We are going to continue to pray through music with this hymn during our school liturgies.
We have created a
Year of Jubilee Time Capsule
Every child made a keyring that said
“I pray that you have HOPE”
We are going to bury the Time Capsule and leave instructions for it to be opened in 25 years time!
Throughout the Jubilee Year, every class will have the opportunity to consider more closely one of the focus points, which Pope Francis has asked us to think about. We have also linked each one with a Catholic Social Teaching. Please see below our list of planned activities.
